Your Home, Our Care

Home is meant to be a place where we feel safe, secure, and confident about life, but there are times when we may need a helping hand to maintain that sense of wellbeing.

At St Michaels Care at Home, we train our carers to keep this in mind in all they do, from the moment they arrive to the moment they leave. That means making sure you have everything you need to maintain your overall sense of wellbeing and to get on with your day.

Care at home is about helping you to stay in your home safely and comfortably and to retain as much continuity as possible. We don’t believe that the changes that come with aging, illness or disability should also mean you lose your individuality, likes and dislikes and all the other important things that make you who you are. That is why at St Michaels we have built our ‘care in your home’ services around you. It is all about listening, understanding and translating your requirements into a care package that works for you, always.

So, what can we help with? It is all very much shaped around what you need. We can offer short term help, perhaps to provide interim care while your usual carer is away or while you are recovering from an illness; and we can provide longer term care, such as help following a major lifestyle change due to disability or illness or simply because you can no longer manage things alone. Our care service is flexible, so we can be there for you at the times you need us most.

The things we can help with are not limited to the following, but these are some of the things we do for the families and individuals we provide our care at home services to.

  • Maintaining your morning routine of getting up, washed and dressed and eating breakfast.
  • Sorting lunch and anything else you need during the middle of your day.
  • Doing your weekly shopping, including planning what to buy and packing groceries away.
  • Completing domestic tasks such as laundry, ironing and light housework.
  • Taking your medication regularly and at the right times.
  • Meal planning and preparation.
  • Errands, such as collecting prescriptions and pensions and helping you to arrange appointments.
  • Helping you to maintain your social life, such as attending clubs and daycare centres, visiting your place of worship, or accompanying you on a walk in the park.
  • Helping you to get ready for bed at the end of the evening.

Designing your care package is a carefully thought-out and planned process during time which we will listen to what you say you need. You can also ask us anything you like, as you are bound to have questions. We can also take into consideration the ideas of family and friends, if you wish, who because they know you well can often suggest things you may have overlooked. Your care package is regularly reviewed to see whether it is still meeting you needs. We also encourage our clients to let us know of any changes in their needs outside of these review periods, just in case you need your care package updated between these times.
